Creating characters

Stories can start with an idea that drives the narrative, but it also needs a unique character.

For Roald Dahl, his ideas often started really small.

‘And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.’ – Billy and The Minpins

Choose your own path

Not every writer thinks of their characters in the same way. Some start with an unexpected hero, others create a memorable villain first. You will need to create both. Choose where to start.

It's almost time to write!

Now that you have created your hero, your villain, and your story outline, it is time to put it all together.

Send your worksheets, there should be three, to your teacher and fellow aspiring writers for feedback!
